Engi...? Engi!?

[There's the sound of footsteps as Yui paces around where she was, trying to figure out why Engi wasn't responding to her.]

Where...where am I? My clothes...[She settled down where she was, staring out at the vast world around her. She was sitting beneath a Cherry Blossom tree looking troubled. This wasn't where she was at all. Was she stuck in a daydream? That...that must be it. Why else could she not contact Engi? But where did she go? She can't have gone too far, not in her current decent.

But then, if this was a daydream, why did she have wings? Is it just a necessity for whomever's world this was? She blinks when she started hearing a soft whisper. She quickly looks around, but there was no one around. Was she starting to hear things too? None of the voices sounded like Engi...]

U-Um, excuse me. Ah, there's so many of you talking. Whoever you are that's trying to talk to me, could you please tell me where Engi is? This is your world isn't it? Do any of you know where she is?

Haruhi Suzumiya, chief of the SOS-Brigade!

I'm Yui Kōnagi. It's nice to meet you Suzumiya-san. [Hee, so many new people she was meeting. She seems happy to learn more different names.]

Ah, I've never heard of the SOS-Brigade before. What does it represent?

We represent ourselves, obviously! The SOS-Brigade is one of the key organizations here, after all - here being Luceti, that is.

Really...? Then you must know a lot about Luceti. Cause I think I could use a little help understanding what's going on.

Oh yeah? Shoot! [She could just give the guide. Or a proper introduction. But she's always curious to see what the newbies ask first]

Who are the Malnosso? Why are we held prisoners and is there a place to report a missing person?

The answer to the last one is no - you usually just sort of ask people around and hope it turns up someone. If needed though, my Brigade might have the time to look into it if said missing person is interesting.

As for the other two... the Malnosso are evil alien scientists who run the show here. "Scientist" is a misnomer though, really. They act more like big businessmen who happen to have a lot of powerful buttons to push and so they push them. The prisoner part plays into that - they need us inside the barrier and away from the "natural Shifts" outside, supposedly. It's keeping us in and those - as well as the TPs - out.

Well...she's a very important person to me and she's not well adverse in the world outside our dreams. [...Did she want to get into the dream demons?] Her name is Engi and she has these really big white wings and wears a beautiful lavender dress. I'm worried she might unintentionally cause trouble for someone out of confusion.

[A pause] W-Wait, we've actually been abducted by aliens!? [So they do exist!] And...what's the TPs?

[urk] Did I? W-Well...that's what I thought this world was, a dream world. It seem a little different from my world.

...Huh. So you're a dream hopper, are you? No, this isn't a dream world.

Well, I'm more aware of worlds that exist in dreams than most people, but Engi's more of the dream hopper than myself.

Um, you mentioned the Third Party earlier?

-Yeah, them. They're dangerous and important, but not super-important to the situation at hand, unless you want to hear about them.

Well...I suppose that can wait for another time. I would like to know why the Malnosso are holding us prisoners though. For what purpose?

And now we hit big unknown number one! Supposedly, it's a way to keep us safe and keep us here so they can study effects on us... which'll help everyone go home.
